UPDATE. FEBRUARY 2011
We regret to inform everybody that, due to the devastating earthquake on 22 February 2011, the Vegetarian Triathlon has been cancelled. QEII is out of operation, our Traffic Management Plan is run by Fulton Hogan who have other things to do, and the Christchurch Vegetarian Centre Office is inside the cordon; it is unlikely we will be able to access it for some time, if at all.
We hope that you and yours are all well. We are thinking with love and concern of all the people from or in Christchurch.
Naku Noa,
Anna van den Bosch Triathlon Organiser
The Vegetarian Triathlon is a community event which is designed for all fitness levels, ages and interests. All are welcome to participate in the Vegetarian Triathlon – if you are not already vegetarian; all you have to do is go vegetarian for one month before the event. You’ll learn about vegetarian lifestyle, do your health a favour, enjoy great food as well as be eligible to join the tri as a participant. It’s easy!
If you are already vegetarian, this is our day where our community comes together. It is an event which celebrates being vegetarian in a healthy active way whilst highlighting the many positive impacts of our lifestyle for the planet, animals and health.
The second Vegetarian Triathlon will be held in Christchurch, New Zealand at 3pm on Sunday March 6th 2011. The event is being organised by the Christchurch Vegetarian Centre, a branch of the New Zealand Vegetarian Society. This event is built on the Centre's success and experience of organising the five Vegan Triathlons which were held from 2005-2009. www.vegantriathlon.org.nz, and last year's inaugural Vegetarian Triathlon.
We would like to thank the Christchurch City Council who have given us a generous grant to help cover our costs for this event.
We look forward to seeing you at the second Vegetarian Triathlon. Volunteers are also welcome!
